Connect your BaseLinker catalog

BaseLinker (now Base.com) already gathers the products of your shops, marketplaces and warehouses in one catalog. Connected to Pricebeeper, it keeps every product's code, barcode, price and average cost current, whichever channels you sell through. This guide shows how to get an API token and connect it, with a screenshot of each step in Pricebeeper.

At a glance

  • One API token from your BaseLinker account is all it takes.
  • Your default catalog and price group are used unless you choose others.
  • Average cost becomes the unit cost; the price group's gross price becomes your own price.
  • Products are matched by SKU, then EAN to the products already in your Pricebeeper catalog.
  • Read only: Pricebeeper never changes anything in BaseLinker.

Plans: Every plan. Costs and your own prices matter most with repricing, on Growth and higher plans.

Before you start

BaseLinker keeps product codes, barcodes, prices and costs, but not your shop's page addresses, so this connection updates products that are already in your Pricebeeper catalog and doesn't add new ones. Bring your products in first, from your shop's product feed, a store import or a CSV file, with the same SKUs or EANs BaseLinker uses.

You need access to the BaseLinker account, a Pricebeeper account with a confirmed email address, and the owner or admin role in that account.

Choose BaseLinker (Base.com) under E-shop platforms.

Step 1: Get an API token

  1. Open your account's API page

In BaseLinker, open My account from the menu at the top right, then the API tab.

  2. Generate a token

Name it Pricebeeper and generate it. Copy the token straight away.

  3. Note your catalog and price group (optional)

If you keep several catalogs, or your shop's prices sit in a price group that isn't the default, note their ID numbers from the product catalog settings. Otherwise leave both fields empty.

Step 2: Connect it in Pricebeeper

  1. Open Connections

In Pricebeeper, go to Settings, Connections, choose Add connection and pick BaseLinker (Base.com).

  2. Fill in the access details

Paste the API token. Fill in Catalog ID and Price group ID only if you noted them; empty means your default catalog and its default price group.

  3. Choose what each sync does

Update unit costs uses BaseLinker's average cost. Use its prices as your own prices uses the gross price of the chosen price group, in that group's currency. Adding products isn't offered, because BaseLinker has no page addresses.

  4. Connect and test

Choose Connect and test. Pricebeeper signs in, reads the first products and shows them with their codes, barcodes, costs and prices, so you can check them before the full sync runs in the background.

What a sync changes

Each sync reads every product BaseLinker lists and finds the matching product in your catalog: first by product code (SKU), then by barcode (EAN or GTIN). A code or barcode that several of your products share matches none of them, so a duplicate never gets the wrong cost.

  • Unit cost replaces the cost Pricebeeper had, when Update unit costs is on. Repricing keeps every suggestion above the margin floor it sets.
  • Your own price becomes the price competitors are compared with, when Use its prices as your own prices is on.
  • Codes and barcodes fill in where a product had none, which helps Pricebeeper find the exact product at other sellers.
  • Products that match nothing are counted and listed on the connection, so you can see what is missing from your catalog.

BaseLinker lists variants as their own products, each with its own SKU and EAN, and Pricebeeper matches them the same way. Products without a SKU or an EAN can't be matched and are skipped. The average cost is in your account's main currency; check that it is the currency your prices use.

A sync never deletes, renames or moves anything, and it reads only: Pricebeeper writes nothing back to your system. Approved prices reach your store only through a store you connect for repricing.

Step 3: Check the results

The connection shows when it last synced, how many products it read and updated, and how many matched nothing in your catalog. A high not matched count usually means your Pricebeeper products don't carry BaseLinker's SKUs yet: connect your shop's feed, or import a CSV with a sku column, and the next sync picks them up. The getting started guide covers monitoring from there.

Questions people ask

Why doesn't the BaseLinker connection add products?

Pricebeeper monitors products by their page on the web, and BaseLinker's catalog doesn't hold page addresses. Bring products in from your shop's feed or a store import; BaseLinker then keeps their costs and prices current.

Which cost does Pricebeeper use?

BaseLinker's average cost of the product, in your account's main currency. It replaces the unit cost on each sync while Update unit costs is on.

How are my keys and passwords stored?

Encrypted, and never shown again, not even to you: the connection shows only a short hint. Only the account owner and team admins can add or change connections, and they are sent only to the address you entered.

Does Pricebeeper change anything in my system?

No. Connections only read. Give the access the least rights that let it read products and prices, and Pricebeeper can never change your data.

Does a connection use my plan's slots?

No. Slots are used only when you attach a product to a region to monitor it. Connections keep your catalog's codes, costs and prices current on every plan.
