Competitor price monitoring

Competitor price monitoring that finds the sellers for you

Pricebeeper searches Google Shopping and Amazon for every product you monitor, matches the other sellers by barcode, and tracks their prices by country or by state. It finds the sellers once a month, then re-reads each known seller's own product page every week, or every day on Growth and up. Paid plans start at $39 a month for 500 products, and the Free plan tracks 50.

At a glance

  • Finds competing offers on Google Shopping and Amazon by GTIN barcode first, then brand and title. No competitor URLs to collect.
  • Tracks prices in 67 countries and about 1,700 states, provinces and other regions.
  • Sellers are found monthly and re-read from their own pages weekly, or daily on Growth and up with the 5 cheapest every 6 hours.
  • Records each seller's price, shipping, total price, stock and condition, with full history.
  • Import your whole catalog free of charge and pay only for the products you monitor ($0.078 per product on Starter).

Plans: Every plan. Free reads your own product pages and up to 3 competitor pages you add per product; Starter and up search Google Shopping and Amazon for you.

What Pricebeeper monitors

For each product you monitor, Pricebeeper keeps a list of the other shops selling it and what each one charges. A row in that list is one seller's offer, and it carries more than the headline price:

  • Seller and shop domain, so you can filter the list to the competitors you care about.
  • Price, shipping and total price, because a cheap item with $12 delivery is not the cheapest offer.
  • Stock: in stock, out of stock, preorder or unknown, as the seller reports it.
  • Condition: new, used or refurbished, so a used listing doesn't look like an undercut.
  • Exact or similar: whether the offer is the exact product (matched by barcode, Google product ID or Amazon ASIN) or a close match from a search.
  • When it was last read and how often that seller is being re-checked.

Paid ads and sponsored placements are kept apart from sellers' offers. A Google Shopping ad or an Amazon sponsored result is recorded as a placement, so it shows in competitor ad monitoring but never sets off a price alert or counts as a seller's price.

How it finds your competitors

Most price tools ask you for the URL of every competitor product page. Pricebeeper starts from your own catalog instead and searches the places shoppers compare prices.

  1. Import your catalog

Connect a Shopify or WooCommerce store, upload a CSV or a Google Merchant Center feed, or paste product URLs. Catalog import keeps the barcode, brand and MPN when your data has them.

  2. Choose what to monitor, and where

Pick products and a region: a country such as Germany, or a state such as California. Each product in each region is one slot. You can attach hundreds at once up to your plan's limit.

  3. Pricebeeper searches Google Shopping and Amazon

It looks for the product by GTIN (EAN or UPC) first, then by brand and title. Results come from DataForSEO, a paid data provider, so no one has to scrape Google or Amazon.

  4. Matched products get their full seller list

Once a product is matched to a Google Shopping product or an Amazon ASIN, Pricebeeper asks for the sellers of that exact product instead of a keyword search: up to 40 on Google Shopping, plus the sellers of the Amazon ASIN. Exact product matching explains how matches are made and checked.

  5. You confirm the doubtful ones

Matches that need a human look are flagged. Confirm, reject or re-run them one at a time, or confirm a batch in one go.

If you already know a competitor you want watched, add its product page as a pinned competitor page. Pins work on every plan, don't use slots, and are the way Free accounts track competitors.

How often prices are checked

Two kinds of check run side by side. Discovery searches Google Shopping and Amazon for the sellers of a product, once a month on every paid plan; one search per product and region serves every account that tracks it. Re-checks read the known sellers' own product pages directly, which costs no search fees, so they run far more often: weekly, or daily on Growth and up.

Starter and PlusMonthlyWeeklyWeekly
Growth, Pro, BusinessMonthlyDailyEvery 6 hours
CustomDaily or hourlyDailyEvery 6 hours

The Check now button on each product queues a fresh check and re-reads its known offers and pinned pages straight away, on every plan. Re-checks covers how up to 40 sellers per product stay current between monthly searches without paying for a search each time. Amazon offers can't be re-read, so they update at the monthly search.

What you see for each product

Each monitored product has a page with a price history chart and the current offers. The chart draws the lowest market price per day and one line per seller, so you can see who moved first and how far.

The offers table can be filtered by shop domain and shows each total with shipping. Facets show how many offers each shop has, and a separate panel lists the top search results per platform, so a similar product that ranks well on Amazon doesn't get mixed into the sellers of your exact item.

Across the catalog, pricing analytics turns the same data into seller scorecards, sale patterns, leader and follower detection and price gaps between regions. Everything can be exported as CSV or read through the API.

When a price changes

Pricebeeper compares each seller's cheapest offer with that same seller's previous price. One shop dropping 10% raises one alert about that shop, instead of a vague "market moved" notice.

  • Price alerts: price drop, price increase, a sale price with a discount, and a target price you set.
  • Stock alerts: a competitor sold out, or came back in stock.
  • Delivered by email (batched, with price and stock alerts in separate sections), in the app, to Slack, or to a signed webhook.

The first check after a product is matched only records a baseline. You don't get a flood of alerts on day one.

What it costs

Pricing is per slot: one product monitored in one region. Starter has 500 slots for $39 a month, which is $0.078 per product at full use. You can split slots however you like: 500 products in one country, or 250 products in two states.

Your catalog is not capped on any plan. Import a 20,000-product Shopify store and monitor the 400 products that matter; you pay for the 400. Variants are not counted separately. If you need more room, slot packs start at 250 slots for $15 a month. Full details are on the pricing page and in slot-based pricing.

Who it suits

  • Shops with a few hundred to a few thousand branded products that sell on their own site and compete on Google Shopping and Amazon. Starter and Plus cover most of them.
  • Retailers whose prices differ by state or province, such as chains with stores in several US states. Regional price tracking is built for them, with up to 10 regions on Pro.
  • Teams who don't have time to collect competitor URLs and would rather confirm matches than find them.
  • Brands watching their resellers, who can add MAP monitoring on Growth, Pro, Business and Custom.

Limits worth knowing

  • New sellers are found once a month on standard plans. Tools such as Prisync and PriceMole search several times a day; if a new seller appearing on Tuesday must be known on Tuesday, pin its page, or use the Custom plan or a different tool.
  • Products without a barcode, brand or clear title match less reliably. You can still confirm matches by hand or pin the competitor pages.
  • Prices are tracked by country or by state and province, not by store or zip code.
  • Amazon pages are never read directly. Amazon prices come from the monthly search, not from the weekly or daily re-checks.
  • Comparison sites such as idealo are not covered yet.

If one of these rules Pricebeeper out for you, the comparison pages say which tools handle it better.

Questions people ask

Do I need to give Pricebeeper my competitors' URLs?

No. Starter and higher plans search Google Shopping and Amazon for each product, matching by barcode first and then brand and title. You can still pin specific competitor pages if you want a shop watched that doesn't list on Google Shopping. On Free, pinned pages are the only competitor source.

How accurate are the matches?

Barcode matches are exact: a GTIN identifies one product. Brand and title matches are checked against the result, and doubtful ones are flagged for you to confirm or reject. Once a product is matched to a Google product or Amazon ASIN, every seller listed under it is the same item. Offers from a plain keyword search are shown as similar, not exact.

Which countries and regions can I track?

67 countries and about 1,700 first-level regions inside them, such as US states, Canadian provinces, German states and Swiss cantons. Each region counts toward your plan's region limit, and each product in each region uses one slot.

Does Pricebeeper track my own prices too?

Yes, if the product's URL is the page on your own store. Pricebeeper reads that URL on every check, so your price is recorded next to the market's. For repricing it reads your live price from Shopify or WooCommerce, or you can enter it by hand, and your own shop is never counted as a competitor.

Can I see prices from before I signed up?

No. History starts with your first check. Every price reading is kept for 90 days, and after that Pricebeeper keeps each seller's daily low, average and high, so the chart of the lowest market price covers the whole time since you started. Analytics and the price history CSV export work on the individual readings of the last 90 days.

Is scraping competitor prices legal?

Pricebeeper reads public product pages and public search results, the same information any shopper sees. It follows each site's robots.txt, limits how often it visits a store, never reads Amazon pages directly, and switches off data sources whose terms forbid this use. Ask your own counsel if your market has special rules.
