PriceOtus alternative

Pricebeeper vs PriceOtus

PriceOtus is a Shopify and WooCommerce app that finds competitor product pages, re-reads them every 6 to 24 hours and reprices your store, from $39 a month for 200 products. Pricebeeper searches Google Shopping and Amazon once a month for the sellers of your products, re-reads the known ones weekly, tracks them by country or by state, and costs $39 a month for 500 products. Its daily re-checks, MAP monitoring and repricing start on Growth at $209.

The short answer

Pick PriceOtus if you sell in one country, want competitor prices several times a day and want automatic repricing without a large plan: 2,000 products every 6 hours cost $89 a month. Pick Pricebeeper if your prices differ by state or province, if you police resellers with MAP, or if you want alerts in Slack or a webhook and an API on every plan. Both have free plans, so a side-by-side test costs nothing.

Who Pricebeeper suits better than PriceOtus

  1. Retailers with stores or delivery zones in several states or provinces

Pricebeeper tracks 67 countries and about 1,700 regions inside them, so a product can be priced separately in Texas and in Ohio. Growth covers 3,000 slots across 3 regions for $209. PriceOtus's discovery settings pick one target country, and its help pages don't mention regions inside a country.

  2. Brands checking resellers against a minimum advertised price

MAP monitoring is on Growth, Pro, Business and Custom, from $209 a month, with violations grouped by seller and a SHA-256 hashed evidence snapshot of each one. PriceOtus's listing, website and help pages don't mention MAP.

  3. Teams that route alerts into Slack or their own systems

Pricebeeper sends alerts by email, in the app, to Slack or to signed webhooks, and the REST API is on every plan, Free included. PriceOtus's plans list email alerts and reports, and its pages don't mention an API.

  4. Shops that would rather not build a competitor list first

From $39, Pricebeeper matches each product by barcode and follows the sellers listed for that exact Google Shopping product or Amazon ASIN. PriceOtus discovers competitors too, within a monthly capacity per plan in which each variant is a separate search.

Two ways to watch competitor prices

PriceOtus connects to Shopify and WooCommerce, and takes products from any other shop by CSV, manual entry or an import from your store's URL. It works in competitor URLs: each of your products carries a list of competitor product pages, which PriceOtus reads on a schedule and uses to reprice your store.

Pricebeeper is a newer competitor price monitoring tool that starts from search results. For each product you monitor, its paid plans ask Google Shopping and Amazon who sells it, match the answers by barcode, and record each seller's price, shipping and stock by country or by state. Pinned competitor pages cover shops you want watched by URL.

Monthly cost at four catalog sizes

Both charge by products tracked. Every paid PriceOtus plan includes unlimited competitors per product and repricing rules, and the plans differ in product count and update frequency. Pricebeeper's repricing starts on Growth, so the table shows two Pricebeeper figures.

Monthly price for one country
Products trackedPricebeeper, monitoringPricebeeper with repricingPriceOtus (repricing included)
200$39 (Starter, room for 500)$209 (Growth)$39 (Pro, every 12 hours)
1,000$99 (Plus)$209 (Growth)$89 (Pro Advanced, every 6 hours)
2,000$129 (Plus plus a 500-slot pack)$209 (Growth)$89 (Pro Advanced, every 6 hours)
5,000$329 (Growth plus two 1,000-slot packs)$329$199 (Pro Advanced+, every 6 hours)

The arithmetic favors PriceOtus from about 1,000 products. Its price per product falls from $0.195 on Pro ($39 for 200) to about $0.045 on Pro Advanced ($89 for 2,000) and $0.040 on Pro Advanced+ ($199 for 5,000). Pricebeeper costs $0.078 per product on Starter, $0.066 on Plus and $0.070 on Growth at full use. At 200 products PriceOtus Pro costs $39 and Pricebeeper Starter $39, with room for 300 more products, re-read weekly instead of every 12 hours.

Annual billing saves 15% on PriceOtus and about 17% on Pricebeeper ($388 a year for Starter). On Pricebeeper a product tracked in two regions uses two slots, and the catalog itself is never capped. The pricing page lists every plan and slot pack.

Finding and matching competitor products

PriceOtus's discovery searches Google, Google Shopping and Amazon, or only the competitor stores you name, and matches on barcode and title by default (or barcode, title or SKU alone). Each candidate gets a similarity score; matches above your auto-confirm score start tracking at once, and the rest wait for review. You can also paste competitor URLs or upload them by CSV.

Discovery draws on a monthly capacity set by your plan, and each variant counts as a separate search, so PriceOtus's help pages recommend adding your known competitor stores before a run.

Pricebeeper matches by GTIN barcode first, then brand and title, on every paid plan. When a product matches a Google Shopping product or an Amazon ASIN, Pricebeeper follows the sellers listed for that exact item, so a shop that starts selling it shows up at the next monthly search without anyone adding a URL. Doubtful matches are flagged for you to confirm, reject or bulk-confirm; exact product matching sets out the rules.

How fresh the prices are

PriceOtus is ahead on frequency. Tracked competitor pages update every 24 hours on Free, every 12 hours on Pro and every 6 hours on Pro Advanced and Pro Advanced+, and a single competitor can be re-read on request. No Pricebeeper plan re-reads every known competitor 4 times a day.

Pricebeeper runs two schedules: monthly discovery on Google Shopping and Amazon, and re-reads of up to 40 known sellers per matched product from their own pages. Those re-reads run weekly on Starter and Plus, and daily on Growth and up, with the 5 cheapest offers and your pinned pages every 6 hours. Check now re-reads a product on any plan. Daily re-checks explains the schedule.

Regions, channels and alerts

PriceOtus's listing names Amazon, eBay, Google Shopping, Walmart and direct competitor URLs as sources. Its discovery can target a country, for example Austria for a shop based in Germany, and you can adjust a competitor's prices by a percentage or a fixed amount to allow for shipping or VAT.

Pricebeeper tracks Google Shopping (including Walmart, eBay stores and independent shops that list there) and Amazon in 67 countries, and can split a country into states or provinces because search results differ by location; see regional price tracking. Shipping and total price are recorded with each offer.

PriceOtus sends instant email alerts and daily or weekly email reports, including alerts when a competitor goes out of stock. Pricebeeper sends price alerts and stock alerts by email, in the app, to Slack or to a signed webhook, and it compares each seller with that seller's own previous price.

Repricing and MAP

Repricing is where PriceOtus gives more for less. Every paid plan has rules that price below, equal to or above the cheapest, average or highest competitor, with limits tied to your cost, price rounding, excluded stores and a global safeguard on every change. Products set to Watch & Reprice update in Shopify and WooCommerce; other stores get suggested prices.

Pricebeeper's repricing is on Growth, Pro, Business and Custom. Rules match or beat the lowest price, sit at a percentile or near the median, and never cross your floor, ceiling, MAP or maximum change. Suggestions wait for approval and write to Shopify or WooCommerce; on Pro and up approved rules can apply changes on their own within a daily cap.

Brands get MAP monitoring on Growth: an authorized-seller list, violations grouped by seller, a hashed evidence snapshot of each one and a daily summary email. PriceOtus's listing, website and help pages don't mention MAP.

Testing both on the same products

Both free plans allow a real test. PriceOtus Free tracks 5 products against 1 competitor each, daily; Pricebeeper Free tracks 50 weekly, each against up to 3 pinned competitor pages. For paid features, PriceOtus offers 14-day trials and Pricebeeper a 14-day Growth trial without a card. Load the same products into both and compare, after a week, how many competitors each found and how many were the exact product. Create a Pricebeeper account to start.

When PriceOtus may suit you better

  • You need prices several times a day on a small budget

PriceOtus updates tracked pages every 12 hours on Pro ($39, 200 products) and every 6 hours on Pro Advanced ($89, 2,000 products). Pricebeeper finds sellers once a month and re-reads the known ones weekly on Starter and Plus; daily re-reads, with the 5 cheapest every 6 hours, start on Growth at $209.

  • You want automatic repricing from the first paid plan

Every paid PriceOtus plan from $39 includes repricing rules that update Shopify and WooCommerce. Pricebeeper's repricing starts on Growth at $209, and rules apply changes on their own only from Pro at $799.

  • You price each variant against competitors

PriceOtus tracks variants on Pro Advanced and up, maps competitor variants to yours (with a Chrome extension when they share one URL) and reprices per variant. Pricebeeper tracks a Shopify product as one item; variants priced differently must be imported as separate products, each using a slot.

  • You want reviews and hands-on setup help

PriceOtus has 18 reviews on the Shopify App Store, all 5 stars, and has been listed since June 2023. It answers chat and email within 12 hours and sets up competitors free when discovery falls short. Pricebeeper has no public reviews yet.

Questions people ask

Is PriceOtus cheaper than Pricebeeper?

From about 1,000 products, yes. PriceOtus Pro Advanced tracks 2,000 products every 6 hours for $89 a month, while 2,000 products cost $129 on Pricebeeper and are re-read weekly. At 200 products PriceOtus Pro costs $39 and Pricebeeper Starter $39, with room for 500. With repricing, PriceOtus is cheaper at every size, because Pricebeeper's repricing starts on Growth at $209.

Does PriceOtus track prices by state?

Not according to its pages. PriceOtus's discovery settings let you pick a target country, such as Austria for a German shop, and its help pages don't mention regions inside a country. Pricebeeper tracks 67 countries and about 1,700 states, provinces and similar regions, each counted as its own region on your plan, with one slot per product per region.

Which app checks competitor prices more often?

PriceOtus. It updates tracked pages every 12 hours on Pro and every 6 hours on Pro Advanced and above. Pricebeeper finds sellers once a month and re-reads them weekly; on Growth and up it re-reads each known seller daily and the 5 cheapest offers every 6 hours, and Check now re-reads a product on demand. Daily or hourly discovery needs Pricebeeper's sales-led Custom plan.

Does Pricebeeper count variants like PriceOtus?

No. Pricebeeper counts slots: one product in one region, however many variants it has. The flip side is that it tracks a Shopify product as one item and doesn't price each variant against competitors. PriceOtus tracks variants separately on Pro Advanced and up, and its discovery counts each variant as a separate search against the plan's monthly capacity.
