Snoopie alternative

Pricebeeper vs Snoopie

Snoopie is a free Shopify app that watches competing Shopify stores and emails you when they add, remove or update products or change their collections. Pricebeeper watches your own products instead: its paid plans find the sellers of each one on Google Shopping and Amazon, whatever platform they run on, and track their prices by country or state, from $39 a month for 500 products. Its Free plan tracks 50 products against competitor pages you pin.

The short answer

Pick Snoopie if your rivals run Shopify stores and you want a free heads-up when they launch products, drop items or open a sale collection. Pick Pricebeeper if you want the price of each of your products across every seller it can find, including Amazon, Walmart and shops that don't run on Shopify, with alerts and history per seller. The two answer different questions, and some shops will use both.

Who Pricebeeper suits better than Snoopie

  1. Shops whose competitors are not all on Shopify

Snoopie's FAQ says both you and your competitors have to be on Shopify. Pricebeeper's paid plans find sellers on Google Shopping (including Walmart and eBay stores) and Amazon, and its pinned pages work on most stores' sites, though Amazon pages are never read directly.

  2. Retailers who set prices product by product

Pricebeeper matches each of your products by barcode and records each of its sellers with shipping, total price and stock. Snoopie watches whole stores that you name. On Starter, 500 products are matched and tracked for $39 a month, $0.078 each.

  3. Teams that need more than one alert

Snoopie's free plan builds up to 1 alert with 3 email notifications included. Pricebeeper's Free plan alerts on price drops, rises and stock changes for all 50 products by email and in the app; paid plans add sale and target-price alerts, Slack and webhooks.

  4. Retailers whose prices differ by region

Pricebeeper tracks 67 countries and about 1,700 states, provinces and similar regions, so the same product can be followed in California and in Texas. Snoopie's pages don't mention regions.

A store watcher and a price tracker

Snoopie is a Shopify app, listed since October 2023, that watches competing Shopify stores. You give it the link to a competitor's store, choose which changes trigger an alert, and pick the email addresses that receive it. Its listing describes alerts when monitored stores add products, remove items, adjust pricing or change collections, and when stock levels change.

Pricebeeper starts from your own catalog. For each product you monitor, it finds the other sellers of that product on Google Shopping and Amazon, matches them by barcode, and records each seller's price, shipping and stock over time. Competitor price monitoring describes the model: each row is one seller's offer for one of your products.

The two overlap only where a rival sells a product you also sell. Snoopie tells you that a competitor added a batch of products or opened a sale collection; Pricebeeper tells you which seller now undercuts you on a product you both carry, and by how much once shipping is added.

What each costs

Snoopie's published plan is free, with up to 1 alert and 3 email notifications, and any payments go through Shopify. Its FAQ mentions a 14-day trial of a Starter plan inside the app, but neither the listing nor the website shows that plan's price, so there is no paid plan to compare.

Pricebeeper's Free plan monitors 50 products weekly, each against its own page and up to 3 competitor pages you pin: up to 150 competitor pages in all. Paid plans add the Google Shopping and Amazon search that finds sellers for you.

Products monitoredPlanMonthly pricePer product
50Free (pinned pages only)$0$0
500Starter$39$0.078
1,500Plus$99$0.066

Each monitored product counts once per region, and variants don't count separately. The pricing page has every plan, and slot packs start at 250 slots for $15 a month.

How each finds competitors

Snoopie watches the stores you name, and its FAQ says that for now both you and your competition have to be on Shopify. It follows the whole store rather than a list of matched products, which is how it can spot new products and collections.

Pricebeeper's paid plans find competitors per product: they search Google Shopping and Amazon by GTIN barcode first, then brand and title, and follow the sellers of the exact Google product or Amazon ASIN. Those sellers can run on any platform, and Walmart and eBay stores appear when they list on Google Shopping. See exact product matching.

A rival you already know can be watched by URL on any plan. Pinned competitor pages read price, stock and GTIN from the page, using Shopify and WooCommerce stores' own product data where available, so a Shopify competitor's product page makes a good pin.

What sets off an alert

Snoopie's free plan lists alerts when a competitor adds, deletes or updates SKUs and when it makes collection-level changes. On the Shopify listing, price-change alerts on the free plan are marked as coming soon, while the listing's description and the website include pricing changes. Alerts go by email to one or more recipients.

Pricebeeper's price alerts compare each seller's cheapest offer with that seller's previous price and fire on a drop, a rise or a sale price. Stock alerts fire when a competitor sells out or comes back; a sell-out read from a store's own page needs two readings in a row. Alerts arrive by batched email and in the app on every plan; paid plans add target prices, Slack and webhooks.

The limit is scope. Pricebeeper watches only the products you monitor, so a rival's new product line, a renamed collection or a discontinued item won't show up unless it touches one of your products.

Check frequency and history

Snoopie's pages don't say how often competitor stores are checked. Its listing includes price history among its features.

Pricebeeper's paid plans find sellers once a month and re-read the known ones weekly on Starter and Plus, or daily on Growth and up with the 5 cheapest offers every 6 hours. The Free plan reads your product pages and pinned pages weekly, and Check now re-reads a product on demand. History starts at your first check, and after 90 days it is kept as each seller's daily low, average and high. Charts show the lowest market price per day and a line per seller. Pricing analytics adds seller scorecards, sale patterns and leader and follower detection, and products, price history and alerts export as CSV.

Regions, repricing and MAP

Pricebeeper tracks prices in 67 countries and about 1,700 states and provinces, one slot per product per region. On Growth, Pro, Business and Custom it adds MAP monitoring for brands and repricing that writes approved prices to Shopify or WooCommerce. Snoopie's pages don't mention regions, repricing or MAP.

Running both

Because they watch different things, some shops will run both: Snoopie for a heads-up when a Shopify rival changes its catalog, Pricebeeper for the prices of the products you sell. Pricebeeper imports a Shopify store directly, up to 50,000 products, and you choose which ones to monitor; see catalog import. Create a free account to try it on 50 products.

When Snoopie may suit you better

  • You want to know what a Shopify rival launches or drops

Snoopie alerts you when a competing store adds, deletes or updates products and when it creates or changes collections, such as a new sale collection. Pricebeeper watches only the products you monitor, so it won't tell you about a rival's new product line.

  • You need a free watcher for a handful of rivals

Snoopie's published plan is free: paste a competitor's store link, choose what should trigger an alert and add the email recipients. Pricebeeper's Free plan also costs nothing but works product by product, with up to 3 pinned competitor pages each.

  • You give reviews a lot of weight

Snoopie has 35 reviews on the Shopify App Store, all 5 stars, and has been listed since October 2023. Pricebeeper has no public reviews yet.

Questions people ask

Is Snoopie free?

Yes. Snoopie's published plan on the Shopify App Store costs nothing and includes up to 1 alert and 3 email notifications. Its FAQ mentions a 14-day trial of a Starter plan inside the app, but that plan's price isn't published. Pricebeeper's Free plan monitors 50 products weekly against up to 3 pinned competitor pages each; paid plans start at $39.

Does Snoopie work with competitors that aren't on Shopify?

No. Its FAQ says both you and your competition have to be on Shopify, for now. Pricebeeper tracks sellers on Google Shopping and Amazon, which includes Walmart, eBay stores and shops on any platform that list there, and reads pinned competitor pages on most websites. Amazon pages are never read directly; Amazon prices come from search data.

Can Pricebeeper tell me when a competitor adds new products?

No. Pricebeeper watches the products you choose to monitor, so a rival's new product line won't appear unless you sell or add the same product. It does pick up new sellers of your products at its monthly search, or straight away if you pin their pages. Snoopie is built for catalog changes: products added, removed or updated, and collections created or changed.

Which is better for tracking competitor prices on Shopify?

For prices product by product, Pricebeeper. It matches each of your products to the same item at other sellers and keeps each seller's price, shipping and stock history, with alerts per seller. Snoopie is better at watching named Shopify stores for catalog and collection changes, and its App Store listing marks price-change alerts on the free plan as coming soon.
