DataWeave alternative

Pricebeeper vs DataWeave

DataWeave is a retail analytics company, founded in 2011, that collects competitor prices by store and ZIP code from websites, marketplaces, mobile apps, delivery platforms and physical stores, and matches similar and private-label products as well as identical ones; its prices aren't published. Pricebeeper is self-serve competitor price monitoring for online sellers: it finds the sellers of your branded products on Google Shopping and Amazon by barcode, by country or by state, from $39 a month.

The short answer

Choose DataWeave if you run grocery, fuel or other chains that price store by store, compare private label against brands, or want data delivered into Snowflake or S3 with a vendor team behind it. Choose Pricebeeper if you sell branded products online, need prices by state or province rather than by store, and want to start this week at a listed price: 12,000 slots across 10 regions cost $799 a month on Pro.

Who Pricebeeper suits better than DataWeave

  1. Online shops selling branded products with barcodes

Pricebeeper matches by GTIN first and tracks the sellers of the exact Google Shopping product or Amazon ASIN, from $39 a month for 500 products. DataWeave's matching is built for harder cases, such as similar, substitute and private-label items across pack sizes, and is priced on request.

  2. Regional retailers who price by state, not by store

Pricebeeper tracks about 1,700 states and provinces, with 10 regions on Pro ($799) and 25 on Business ($1,999). DataWeave goes down to individual stores, neighborhoods and ZIP codes, which a state-level pricing team may not need to pay for.

  3. Online shops that want to start this week without a sales process

DataWeave's pages end in a demo request. Pricebeeper's Free plan monitors 50 products at no cost, Growth has a 14-day trial with no card, and attached products are queued for a scheduler that runs every 15 minutes.

Store-level intelligence and online price monitoring

DataWeave was founded in 2011 by Karthik Bettadapura and Vikranth Ramanolla. It sells pricing intelligence, digital shelf analytics, assortment analytics and content tools to retailers and brands, and names customers such as Blain's Farm & Fleet, Douglas and TATA 1mg. Its pricing product collects prices from websites, marketplaces, mobile apps and delivery platforms, down to individual stores.

Pricebeeper is a newer, self-serve tool for competitor price monitoring aimed at online shops, multi-store retailers and brands. It starts from your catalog, searches Google Shopping and Amazon for each product, and records every seller's price, shipping, stock and condition by country or by state. They overlap most for online retailers of branded goods and least for grocery chains that price store by store.

Where DataWeave goes further

DataWeave's reach is wider and deeper. Its competitor price monitoring page lists store-level tracking with ZIP-code precision, and its hyperlocal page covers mobile apps, retail sites, delivery platforms, marketplaces and physical stores. It tracks several price points for each product: list price, selling price, promotional price, the final price after offers, and a unit-normalized price for comparing different pack sizes.

Its matching goes past identical items. DataWeave uses text, images and human reviewers, through an in-house system called Veracite, to match exact, similar, substitute and private-label products, and states 99%+ accuracy. You can approve or disapprove matches in its dashboard and see match statistics and data freshness.

Pricebeeper does none of the store-level work. It has no ZIP-code, store or in-store prices, reads no delivery apps, and doesn't match private label to brands. If those are your questions, DataWeave is the stronger fit.

What Pricebeeper does for an online retailer

For branded products sold online, Pricebeeper's approach is narrower and quicker to start. It matches by GTIN barcode first, then brand and title, and once a product is matched to a Google Shopping product or an Amazon ASIN, it records the sellers of that exact item. Doubtful matches are flagged for you to confirm. Exact product matching explains the rules.

Regions are chosen by you from 67 countries and about 1,700 states and provinces, and each product in each region is one slot. Google Shopping shows different sellers by location, so a Texas chain can compare its market with a Florida one. Regional price tracking covers how it works. Alerts compare each seller with its own previous price and cover price drops, sales, target prices and stock.

Buying each one

DataWeave's pages list no prices or terms; they lead to a demo request form. The bills can't be compared directly, so ask for a quote on your own catalog and set it against the list below.

Pricebeeper's monthly prices
PlanSlotsRegionsMonthlyAnnual
Starter5002$39$388
Plus1,5002$99$990
Growth3,0003$209$2,080
Pro12,00010$799$7,999
Business30,00025$1,999$19,999

A slot is one product in one region. A retailer with 1,200 products in 10 states needs 12,000 slots, which is Pro at $799 a month. Plans bill monthly or annually, you can cancel from the billing page, and your catalog isn't capped. The pricing page has slot and region packs.

Data freshness

DataWeave says refresh frequency is set by business need, from daily to several updates a day, with near real-time monitoring for flash sales and promotions. Its product page also offers weekly tracking for slower categories.

DataWeave is fresher. Pricebeeper searches Google Shopping and Amazon for sellers once a month on every paid plan, so a new seller appears at the next monthly search unless you pin its page. Amazon offers and stores that block checks change only at that search. Daily or hourly searches are on the sales-led Custom plan.

Between searches, each known seller's own page is re-read weekly on Starter and Plus, and daily on Growth and up, with the 5 cheapest offers and your pinned pages every 6 hours. A matched product can have up to 40 Google sellers on that list. Check now re-reads a product on demand. Daily re-checks describes the schedule.

Getting the data out

DataWeave delivers through APIs, exports, S3, Snowflake and custom dashboards, and its Data Collection API returns JSON, CSV or WARC files to S3, Snowflake or Google Cloud. That suits a company with a data warehouse and analysts.

Pricebeeper includes a REST API with OpenAPI docs on every plan, Free included, plus CSV exports of products, price history and alerts, Slack, signed webhooks, and an MCP endpoint that lets AI assistants query your data. API and integrations lists the limits.

A side-by-side trial

If you sell online and in stores, the two can work together: DataWeave for store and ZIP-code prices, Pricebeeper for the online sellers of your branded range. To compare them on the same ground, load 100 barcoded products into Pricebeeper's Growth trial and ask DataWeave for a demo on the same list. Create an account to start.

When DataWeave may suit you better

  • Chains that price store by store and need daily data

DataWeave tracks prices at individual stores, neighborhoods and ZIP codes, across retail sites, apps, delivery platforms and physical stores, and refreshes daily to several times a day. Pricebeeper tracks by country or by state, has no store-level, ZIP-code or in-store data, and searches for new sellers once a month.

  • You compare private label, substitutes and pack sizes

DataWeave matches exact, similar, substitute and private-label products and normalizes units of measure, so a 500 g pack can be compared with a 1 kg one. Pricebeeper is built for exact matches by barcode, Google Shopping product or Amazon ASIN.

  • Your data team wants feeds into Snowflake or S3

DataWeave delivers data through APIs, exports, S3, Snowflake or custom dashboards, offers round-the-clock support, and sells a Data Collection API for custom crawls. Pricebeeper offers a REST API, CSV exports, Slack and webhooks, without warehouse connectors.

  • You want digital shelf analytics too

DataWeave also sells share of search and media, content audits, ratings and reviews, and assortment analytics. Pricebeeper covers prices, stock and competitor ads, not content or reviews.

Questions people ask

How much does DataWeave cost?

DataWeave doesn't publish prices; you request a demo and receive a quote. Pricebeeper's plans are listed: $39 a month for 500 slots, $209 for 3,000 with MAP and repricing, $799 for 12,000 across 10 regions, and $1,999 for 30,000 across 25.

Does Pricebeeper track prices by ZIP code or store like DataWeave?

No. Pricebeeper tracks by country or by first-level region, such as a US state or Canadian province, out of about 1,700 in 67 countries. DataWeave tracks individual stores, neighborhoods and ZIP codes, including physical stores and delivery platforms. For store-by-store pricing, DataWeave is the one of the two that does it.

Can Pricebeeper match private-label products like DataWeave?

No. Pricebeeper matches identical products by GTIN barcode, then brand and title, and treats keyword-search results as similar rather than exact. DataWeave matches similar, substitute and private-label items and normalizes pack sizes, which suits grocery retailers comparing their own brands with national ones.

Is Pricebeeper a DataWeave alternative for an online retailer?

Yes, if your competitors are online sellers of the same branded products. Pricebeeper finds them on Google Shopping and Amazon by barcode, tracks them by state if you need it, and starts at $39 a month without a demo. It isn't an alternative for store-level, app or delivery-platform prices.
