Who Pricebeeper suits better than Competera
Retailers below Competera's $500 million revenue line
Competera's company page says it fits businesses with more than $500 million in annual revenue and 10,000 or more SKUs. Pricebeeper has no minimum: 500 slots cost $39 a month, and 30,000 cost $1,999.
Shops without two years of clean sales history
Competera says it ideally needs two years of sales history and can start with six months using simpler rules. Pricebeeper's repricing rules need only your current price, a floor (a minimum price or your cost) and the competitor offers it already tracks.
Teams that need competitor prices and repricing this quarter
Competera's FAQ says retailers see measurable outcomes within 8 to 12 weeks, and its competitive data takes about 2 weeks to start. Pricebeeper is self-serve: attach products to a region and the first check is queued at once, and Growth has a 14-day trial without a card.
Retailers who want a fixed monthly bill
Competera bills its competitive data by the data points delivered, and prices the platform by quote. Pricebeeper charges a flat monthly fee per plan: 3,000 slots with daily re-checks cost $209 a month, however often prices change.

Optimization and monitoring are different jobs
A price optimization platform answers the question: what price makes us the most money on each product, given how our customers respond to price? To do that it learns elasticity, how much demand moves when a price moves, from your own sales history. It then searches for the best combination of prices across thousands of products at once, allowing for products that steal sales from each other and for seasons, promotions and stock.
Competera is that kind of platform. Its Contextual AI weighs more than 20 pricing and non-pricing factors, runs what-if simulations, and predicts sales, revenue and margin 1 to 12 weeks ahead. It retrains its models at each pricing cycle, daily or weekly. Its company page lists 50 clients in 18 countries, and its case studies include Flaconi and a cruise retailer pricing across 89 ships.
Pricebeeper does a narrower job. It is competitor price monitoring: for each product it finds the other sellers on Google Shopping and Amazon, records their prices, and alerts you when they change. Its repricing turns those prices into suggestions using rules you write. It never looks at your sales volumes, so it cannot tell you what a price does to demand.
What Competera needs before it can price
Demand models need data. Competera's technology page says a retailer should ideally have two years of historical sales data. It can start with six months using simpler pricing rules, and switches on machine-learning optimization once the model predicts well. It connects to ERP, PIM and BI systems, and its FAQ says retailers see measurable outcomes within 8 to 12 weeks.
Its company page is direct about who it is for: businesses that sell directly to consumers with control over their prices, with annual revenue above $500 million and more than 10,000 SKUs.
Pricebeeper needs your catalog, which you can import from Shopify, WooCommerce, a CSV file or a Google Merchant feed. For repricing it also needs your current price and a floor, either a minimum price or a cost. Catalog import covers the formats.
What each costs
Competera publishes no prices. Its pricing page offers three quotes: Competitive Data, the AI Pricing Platform, or both. It says Competitive Data is billed only for the data points delivered within its service level. You can't work out a monthly figure from the site.
Pricebeeper's plans are fixed monthly prices for a number of slots, where a slot is one product in one region. At full use, 3,000 products in one country cost $209 a month on Growth, 12,000 cost $799 on Pro, and 30,000 cost $1,999 on Business. Between those sizes, slot packs add 250 to 10,000 slots for $15 to $600 a month. Annual billing costs about two months less. The pricing page has every plan and pack.
Those figures buy different things. Depending on the package, Competera's quote covers a demand model, crawled competitor data and ongoing support from pricing experts. Pricebeeper's covers software, search data from Google Shopping and Amazon, and rule-based repricing.
Competitor data on both sides
Competera also sells competitor data on its own. It builds crawlers for the competitors you name, matches your products to theirs with AI and human validation, including similar products for private labels, and delivers prices, shipping, stock, sellers and promotions on a schedule from monthly to every 15 minutes. It covers zip codes and pricing zones, and says it delivers more than 119 million data points a month.
Pricebeeper gets its data by searching. It looks up each product by barcode, then brand and title, on Google Shopping and Amazon, and once matched it tracks the sellers of that exact product. Searches for sellers run once a month, so a new seller appears at the next monthly search. Between searches, each known seller's own page is re-read weekly on Starter and Plus, and daily on Growth and up with the 5 cheapest every 6 hours; Amazon offers change only at the monthly search. You can add any competitor page except Amazon's as a pinned page. Exact product matching explains the matching.
Competera goes deeper locally and more often. Pricebeeper tracks 67 countries and about 1,700 states and provinces, which suits a retailer whose online prices differ by state but not by store.
Rules with guard rails, or a demand model
Pricebeeper's repricing, on Growth and up, offers four strategies: match the lowest competitor, beat the lowest by a percentage or an amount, sit at a chosen percentile of the market, or stay within a band around the median. Each rule has a floor, a ceiling, a maximum change per step (10% by default) and a cooldown (24 hours by default), and it follows each competitor's latest price, with an optional maximum age if you want older prices ignored.
Suggestions go to an approval queue with the reason for each one, and approved prices are written to Shopify or WooCommerce. On Pro and up, a rule can apply its own changes within a daily cap. Competera works at a different level: it assigns products to pricing roles by elasticity and life cycle, links related products, and recommends a portfolio of prices aimed at a revenue or margin goal.
Rules are easy to read and predict, and they ignore demand. A model sees demand, and needs years of data and a team to run it. The rules suit a shop with 2,000 products and no analyst.
Starting smaller
Retailers who aren't ready for optimization can start with competitor prices and rules. Every price Pricebeeper records can be exported as CSV or read through the API, so the history stays yours if you move to an optimization platform later. The Free plan monitors 50 products at no cost, and the 14-day Growth trial includes repricing. Create an account to try it on your catalog.
When Competera may suit you better
Large retailers with years of sales data and a pricing team
Competera models demand from more than 20 factors, including own-price and cross-product elasticity, cannibalization, competitor stock, seasonality and weather, and forecasts sales, revenue and margin 1 to 12 weeks ahead. Pricebeeper's rules react to competitor prices only and don't model demand.
Chains that price stores, zones and channels differently
Competera sets price differentiation across countries, channels, store formats and regions, and collects competitor data by zip code and pricing zone. Pricebeeper tracks about 1,700 states and provinces but nothing at store or zip level.
Teams that need competitor data up to every 15 minutes
Competera's competitive data runs monthly, weekly, daily or as often as every 15 minutes, with AI matching checked by people for exact and similar products. Pricebeeper searches for sellers once a month, re-reads known ones weekly on Starter and Plus and daily on Growth and up, and offers daily or hourly searches only on its Custom plan.
Retailers who want promotions, markdowns and consulting in one contract
Competera sells promo management, markdown optimization and a pricing consultancy alongside its platform. Pricebeeper tracks competitors' sales but does not plan your promotions or markdowns.
Questions people ask
How much does Competera cost?
Competera doesn't publish prices. Its pricing page offers quotes for Competitive Data, the AI Pricing Platform, or both, and says competitive data is billed only for data points delivered within its service level. Its stated fit is retailers with more than $500 million in revenue and 10,000 or more SKUs.
Is Pricebeeper a Competera alternative?
For part of what Competera does. Pricebeeper tracks competitor prices and suggests new prices from rules you set, from $39 a month, with repricing from Growth at $209. It does not model demand, forecast sales or optimize promotions and markdowns, which is Competera's core. If you lack the sales history Competera asks for, monitoring and rules are a way to start.
What data does Competera need to start?
Ideally two years of historical sales data, according to its technology page. It can start with six months using simpler pricing rules, and turns on machine-learning optimization once the model predicts accurately. It also connects to ERP, PIM and BI systems. Pricebeeper needs only your catalog and, for repricing, your current price and a floor.
How often does Competera check competitor prices?
As often as you choose: its Competitive Data page offers monthly, weekly, daily or as often as every 15 minutes. Pricebeeper searches for sellers once a month on paid plans, re-reads known sellers weekly on Starter and Plus and daily on Growth and up with the 5 cheapest every 6 hours, and offers daily or hourly searches on its Custom plan.
Does Pricebeeper use price elasticity?
No. Pricebeeper's repricing rules position your price against competitors: match or beat the lowest, a percentile, or a band around the median, inside a floor, a ceiling and a maximum change. It never reads your sales volumes, so it cannot estimate elasticity. For elasticity-based pricing you need an optimization platform such as Competera.
