Marketplaces and channels Pricebeeper covers

Pricebeeper's paid plans search Google Shopping and Amazon for every product you monitor, in 67 countries, and every plan reads competitor websites directly. You can add eBay, bol.com and Kaufland data through your own accounts, or connect an MCP server of your own. The Amazon Product Advertising API, Etsy and Best Buy are switched off because their terms don't allow competitor price monitoring.

At a glance

  • Google Shopping, including Walmart, eBay stores and independent shops that list there.
  • Amazon search and seller data, monthly. Amazon pages are never fetched.
  • Competitor websites, read directly: pinned pages on every plan, re-checks weekly on Starter and Plus, daily on Growth and up.
  • eBay, bol.com and Kaufland through your own developer or seller accounts.
  • Custom MCP servers for teams with price data of their own.
  • Switched off for terms reasons: Amazon Product Advertising API, Etsy, Best Buy. Not covered: idealo.

Plans: Google Shopping and Amazon search on Starter, Plus, Growth, Pro, Business and Custom. Competitor websites, marketplace accounts and MCP servers on every plan.

Google Shopping

Google Shopping lists large retailers, marketplace sellers and independent shops side by side, and Walmart and eBay stores show up there as sellers like any other. Pricebeeper buys the search results from DataForSEO, a paid data provider, for the location of each slot, and doesn't scrape Google itself.

Until a product is matched, the monthly search reads the top 20 results for its title. Once it is matched to a Google product ID, it reads that product's seller list instead: each seller's item price before tax, with shipping and the total. Exact product matching covers the difference.

Shopping ads are kept apart from sellers' offers. They are recorded as placements, never trigger a price alert, and feed competitor ad monitoring. Free listings in Google's carousels count as ordinary results.

Many Google results don't include the seller's own page. Pricebeeper resolves the ad click link to the merchant's page through DataForSEO, so that re-checks can read the seller's site directly. Resolving the link doesn't charge the advertiser for a click.

Amazon

Amazon data also comes from DataForSEO, once a month on every paid plan. Amazon's keyword results don't name the seller, so for a product that isn't matched yet they are shown apart as search results on Amazon: useful to see what ranks, but never a seller's price, never an alert and never counted for MAP.

Once a product is matched to its ASIN, Pricebeeper reads the sellers of that ASIN, each with price, shipping and condition. Sponsored Products and Amazon's own-brand section are recorded as placements, separate from sellers' offers.

Pricebeeper never fetches Amazon pages. Amazon URLs can't be pinned and Amazon offers aren't re-checked between searches, so Amazon prices update monthly on every paid plan.

Pricebeeper monitors Amazon prices; it doesn't reprice your Amazon listings or track the Buy Box. Amazon repricers such as Informed and Repricer.com do that job, and their comparison pages explain how the two kinds of tool differ.

Competitor websites

Any competitor store can be tracked by pasting its product page as a pinned competitor page, on every plan. On paid plans, the sellers found on Google Shopping are also re-read from their own sites between searches: weekly on Starter and Plus, daily on Growth and up.

Pages are read from Shopify's public product data, the WooCommerce Store API, or the structured data in the page. Every read follows the store's robots.txt, with one request at a time per store, and a store that blocks automated checks is left on the monthly search data.

Marketplace accounts you connect

Some marketplaces give price data only to their own sellers or approved developers. Pricebeeper connects to those with your credentials, under Settings, Price sources. The account owner and admins manage the connections, a verified email is required, and credentials are stored encrypted. Results are fetched with each check of the product, on every plan, and labeled with the source's name.

  • eBay (Browse API): your own eBay developer app, with production access to eBay's Buy APIs, which eBay grants per business model through the eBay Partner Network. Pricebeeper looks products up by GTIN when they have one and by keywords otherwise, on eBay's US, UK, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Australian and Canadian sites, and stops at 4,500 calls a day of the app's 5,000. eBay's license forbids using its data to reprice your eBay listings or to train AI models.
  • bol.com (Retailer API): your bol.com seller account, with credentials you create for Pricebeeper in the Seller Dashboard. It returns every active offer on a product in the Netherlands and Belgium: price, condition, fulfillment method, delivery promise and which offer holds the buy block. bol.com allows this for products you sell there.
  • Kaufland (Seller API): your Kaufland seller account, with Pricebeeper signing each request as a Kaufland technology partner as well. It covers Kaufland's storefronts in Germany, Austria, Czechia, Slovakia, Poland, France, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands, with each seller's price, shipping, condition and stock.

bol.com and Kaufland look products up by EAN, so products without a GTIN are skipped. All three sources work per country: a slot in a US state uses eBay's US site, and a region with no storefront is skipped.

Custom MCP servers

Teams with their own price data, from a scraping service, a buying group or an internal system, can connect it as a custom MCP server. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open protocol for tools. Pricebeeper calls your server's JSON-RPC endpoint with the product's URL during each check and records what it returns under the MCP source label. An API key is optional.

Connect only servers whose operator may supply the data they return: Pricebeeper can't check a custom server's sources. Server addresses are checked like every user-supplied URL, so private and internal addresses are refused, and a server added by a teammate is paused when that teammate leaves the account.

MCP also works the other way round: AI assistants can query your Pricebeeper data through our MCP endpoint with an API key. API and integrations covers that.

Sources switched off because of their terms

We read each provider's API terms before building a source, and every source records its terms page and the date they were read. Sources whose terms don't allow competitor price monitoring are switched off. Three are off today:

  • Amazon Product Advertising API. Amazon's Associates terms allow it only for sites whose principal purpose is advertising Amazon and driving sales there, and let its content be cached for 24 hours. Amazon has also deprecated the API. Amazon prices still come from the search data.
  • Etsy Open API. Etsy's terms forbid collecting its content for analytics without Etsy's written authorization.
  • Best Buy Products API. Best Buy's terms forbid using it to analyze Best Buy's pricing on behalf of other retailers, and cap storage at 72 hours.

Accounts that had connected one of these were emailed once. Stored prices from the Amazon API are deleted after 24 hours and Best Buy's after 72, as those terms require. Walmart's API license forbids building a competing service, so there is no Walmart source; Walmart prices appear only where Walmart sells on Google Shopping.

Channels not covered

  • idealo and other price comparison engines. idealo offers no read API to third parties, and Pricebeeper doesn't scrape it.
  • Store connections for Magento, BigCommerce and PrestaShop. Shops on those platforms import by CSV or Google Merchant Center feed.
  • In-store shelf prices.
  • Walmart's own API, for the reason above.

Tools that cover comparison engines, such as Boardfy and Omnia Retail, are compared on their own pages.

Questions people ask

Does Pricebeeper track Walmart prices?

Yes, where Walmart sells the product on Google Shopping. Walmart appears there as one seller among others, on every paid plan, with shipping and stock where Google lists them. There is no Walmart API source: Walmart's API license forbids using it to build a competing service.

Does Pricebeeper track Amazon prices?

Yes, with a monthly search on every paid plan, from $39 a month. Keyword results show what ranks on Amazon; once your product is matched to its ASIN, Pricebeeper tracks the sellers of that exact ASIN with price, shipping and condition. Amazon pages are never fetched directly, and Pricebeeper doesn't reprice Amazon listings or track the Buy Box.

Can I track eBay prices?

Yes, in two ways. eBay stores that list on Google Shopping appear there as sellers on paid plans. You can also connect your own eBay developer app, with production Buy API access, and Pricebeeper looks each product up on eBay by GTIN, or by keywords when there is no barcode, on 8 eBay country sites, within 4,500 calls a day.

Does Pricebeeper cover idealo?

No. idealo offers no read API to third parties, and Pricebeeper doesn't scrape comparison engines, so idealo and similar sites aren't covered. If idealo prices are essential for you, the Boardfy and Omnia Retail comparison pages describe tools that list idealo coverage.

Why is the Amazon Product Advertising API switched off?

Because its terms don't allow this use. Amazon's Associates terms allow the API only for sites whose main purpose is advertising Amazon, and limit caching to 24 hours, and Amazon has deprecated the API. Pricebeeper switched it off, emailed accounts that had connected it, and deletes its prices after 24 hours. Amazon prices come from the search data instead.

Can I connect my own price data?

Yes, as a custom MCP server. Enter your server's JSON-RPC endpoint and an optional API key under Settings, Price sources, and Pricebeeper calls it with each product's URL during every check. Its prices appear under the MCP source label next to the others. Connect only data you are allowed to use; Pricebeeper can't check a custom server's sources.
